Praiano. A Floor in the Sky of Casa Angelina

Via Capriglione 147

Open seven days a week, holidays in winter

The extraordinary charm of the Sorrento Peninsula is due to the fact that every place has original characteristics and a beauty of its own. The rocks, the houses, the sky and the sea create a unique atmosphere. It is different from other places like Scandinavia, for example, where the landscapes are almost the same everywhere.

This restaurant is between Amalfi and Positano, maybe it is the most intimate and private corner where those who love essentiality have always taken refuge.

This hotel is furnished in a simple way. The restaurant looks like a floor in the sky. From the terrace and the veranda you can see the sky and enjoy a beautiful view over the rocks. The furnishings are minimalist and in a sea style with tables covered with hemp and linen serviettes.

You will enjoy a good, innovative pairing of julienne cuttlefish and green peppers or the traditional cornet full of seafood.

Here you will find a modern metropolitan style, the beauty of nature, an attentive service and the passion of the young chef Sabatino Amendola. You can start your meal with a marinated tuna-fish on tomatoes with basil and rings of red onions from Tropea, raw beef with citrus fruit from the Sorrento Coast with an egg yolk, rocket and “caciocavallo” cheese flakes, an aubergine gratin with smoked provola and basil pesto sauce and red prawns from the Tyrrhenian sea on a vegetable bed seasoned with garlic and oil.

The cuisine is in a simple style and is based on local high quality raw materials. It meets the needs of gourmets and food lovers.

As far as the first courses go (14-19 Euros) I recommend smashed potatoes with black flying squids and chilli pepper, sauce of tomatoes from Sorrento, extra virgin olive oil, buffalo mozzarella and marjoram, “paccheri” pasta from Gragnano in a “Provolone del Monaco” cheese fondue with black truffle flakes and basil, ravioli made with egg pasta stuffed with buffalo ricotta and “fiordilatte” cheese on a tomato purée and the delicious noodles with cuttlefish from Praia and broad beans with wild fennel.

The main dishes (23-25 Euros) include stewed catch of the day with shellfish and vegetables of the season, cod with tomato sauce on a potato purée, tuna-fish steak blanched with sesame and roasted peppers, capers and black olives from
Gaeta and skewers of red prawns from the Tyrrhenian sea on mixed grilled and marinated vegetables. Regarding the meat I recommend the lamb with crisp aromatic bread, red wine sauce and purée of beans from Spello.

The vegetarian menu costs about 50 Euros, the traditional menu costs about 55 Euros, the seafood tasting menu costs 75 Euros and the meat tasting menu costs 70 Euros.

You can finish your meal with an apple dessert with cinnamon, raisins, pine-nuts and vanilla cream. The ice-creams are homemade, you can taste a chocolate ice-cream with caramel cream, peanuts and crisp wafer.

The wine selection includes original items and is good, even if isn’t wide.

You can enjoy a romantic dinner or a lunch which will make you feel an integral part of the whole.

The menu a la carte costs 60-70 Euros.

How to arrive
Naples leave the Castellammare exit on the Naples-Salerno motorway and go towards Agerola. After Furore, turn towards Positano. Casa Angelina is on the left, a short way after the centre of Praiano.
