The building and the land around are included in the big estate of the De Angelis family descending from Giuseppe Andrea who bought the feud of Caiazzo and the Longobard castle of the town from the marquises Corsi Salvati from Florence. In the past this building was inhabited by farm workers who were specialized in olive growing and cultivation of fruit plants. The De Angelis family made them move from the Sorrento Peninsula as the farmers from Sorrento were and are renowned growers of olive groves and orchards. The dining room is cosy and the four bedrooms are cared for and include furnishing in old style and private bathroom. Starters with homemade food preserved in oil, spelt soup, many kinds of homemade pasta, gnocchi with pumpkin, pasta with mixed vegetables, grilled chicken, stuffed rabbit, chine of pork, sausages and lamb. Regarding the desserts there are fruit tarts and many typical desserts from Campania like “pan di Spagna” and baba. The 180 hectare farm is divided into many areas with woods and cereal cultivations like spelt, barley, oat, fodder, vegetables and olive trees (the main cultivar is the local “caiazzana”). In the farmhouse they sell fresh and processed vegetables, food preserved in oil and vinegar, jams, oil and cereals. They breed farmyard animals but also cows, pigs, wild boars and game like quails, grey partridges and pheasants. This farm has the certification of biologic cultivation. Facilities Playground for children, skiing plant on the grass, mountain biking, guided visits (excluding Sundays) to the Longobard castle of Caiazzo (it belongs to the owners) and trekking. Carp fishing in the lake located on the farm. Excursions The historical centre of Caiazzo, the Reggia of Caserta, the old area of Caserta, Capua and the museum from Campania, the Sant’Angelo in Formis church and Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
