Murgia countryside, Sellata Phone +39 0971 923363 Open all year, the restaurant is closed on Mondays If you want to go skiing at the gates of Potenza you can stay at the farmhouse of Nicola and Valentina Dapoto, just eighteen kilometres away from the chief town, 1300 metres above sea level along the road leading to Pignola and then to Sellata, it is five minutes away from the perfectly equipped ski area. Here the weather is the typical one of mountain, in summer it is the ideal place to enjoy cool and make excursions to the Pantano lake or to go to the magic Grancia. We are in an authentic firm, set up in 1992, a building in a country style which was renovated when farmhouses didn’t exist yet, equipped with three restaurant rooms on the ground floor and four bedrooms on the upper floor. The furnishing is simple and essential, it is in a country but not folk style, it is experienced and warm, very cosy. This is the ideal place for those who love absolute quiet and the natural beauty of countryside but also for lovers of the typical tastes from Lucania like the “podolica” meat, a typical breeding of cows from the Southern Apennine which has its natural habitat here; it has been able to survive fatigue and the introduction of other breeders which were considered more productive and easy to breed. Now those who have been true to the “podolica” cow have an immense wealth, its milk is in great demand and loved by gourmets. It will be proposed to you grilled or with lamb or pork or with a chicken bred on the farm. In fact they produce vegetables and fodder and takes care for chestnut woods, too. They also breed sheep, goats, cows, pigs and farmyard animals. They have eight hectares which produce many things proposed to the guests. You can have a mixed starter including salamis, cheese, fresh ricotta, browned lamb and vegetables. The fresh pasta, like fusilli, strascinati, tavioli and cavatielli, is hand-made by Valentina and seasoned with full-bodied sauces or accompanied with pulses. Here you will find the power of the countryside from Lucania and the wish to offer a genuine tourist proposal to connoisseurs who buy cheese, salamis and food preserved in oil to remember their trip.
