Piccirillo
Vincenzo Forgive my presumptuousness and delusions of omnipotence but every time I eat these delicacies I can’t resist. They aren’t gastronomic jewels to defend or pseudo Bourbon dishes to rediscover, this is the street food par excellence. Naples is here! In this small and simple place there is all the culture and the authentic soul of a city. There is the genuine, proud identity of a people and its incontaminable purity. In this case which keeps an ancestral and handcrafted experience of cuisine wisdom there is the complete refusal of lightness and business, they search for the authentic taste pleasure. Maybe for this reason mass media don’t pay attention to it, they only put in evidence and condemn the negative aspects of the Neapolitans. Maybe the traditional and common name of this popular delicacy is “tortaniello”, it is a mini savoury cake made soft thanks to a lot of lard an a very tasty stuffing of pork scratching, eggs, pepper at will and Roman cheese. You will be amazed by this masterpiece of taste. Enzo Piccirillo (La Masardona is the historical name which was given to him at the beginning and he has inherited it) also makes a very good fried pizza in the morning (those who are bolder accompany it with beer) and the “tortaniello” which is kept hot and eaten when you are hungry. It costs two Euros and fifty cents and it can be eaten by two of you. It is not time for a diet! Fabio Cimmino lucianopignataro.it |
